On the first Saturday of November the Park Rapids Lakes Area becomes home to thousands of deer hunters for the opening of deer season.  In addition to deer there are dozens of varieties of small game, waterfowl and birds. It is necessary to have an appropriate license to hunt in Minnesota, which are available at many retail outlets. There are also certain regulations on bag limits of game species and harvest methods.
