Laporte

Laporte rests on Garfield Lake and together with nearby Benedict serves the residents of beautiful Kabekona Lake. One historian claims that after the railroad went through, Laporte became known as the "Robbers Roost," the wildest place between Bemidji and Brainerd. Today the Paul Bunyan Trail follows along the former railroad line. Laporte celebrates the seasons with a 4th of July Festival, Laporte Days in August and other events.
