Straight Lake is the jewel of Osage, once a stop for the Pillager Band of Chippewa as they migrated on canoes. The 15 river miles of the Straight River between the dam at Osage and the river's confluence with the Fish Hook River provide one of the premier brown trout fisheries in the upper Midwest. A landmark in the community is the Osage School built in 1838 that now serves as a community center. The Osage Sportsmen's Club and Lions Club organize several events that lend to the quality of life in this small community.
